Global Scholars Recommendation Form

A similar recommendation form accompanies the application for the University Scholars Program coordinated by the Honors Program.  Please be aware that students can only apply for one and not both of these programs. The Global Scholars Program is designed to recognize and encourage our most academically-talented and motivated undergraduate students who have demonstrated an interest in global studies and are selected in a competitive process. The program provides cohorts of students with opportunities to develop their intellectual capabilities and research skills to better prepare them for careers, further study, and leadership roles in today’s complex international arena. The Global Scholars Program is coordinated by the Office of International Programs. It is modeled after the long-running and successful University Scholars Program and is supported by the Honors Program and the Center for Global and International Studies in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.

Global Scholars attend a  seminar class in the spring and are matched with a faculty mentor. In addition to the seminar, Global Scholars are paired with faculty mentors with similar interests. Scholars will present research on global and international studies in a symposium during the spring semester of their senior year.  Students selected as Global Scholars will receive a scholarship of $1000 toward a KU-approved Study Abroad program.

The selection is highly competitive.  Each year only 15 sophomores are chosen.  The selection committee would appreciate your frank assessment of the student.  We appreciate your assistance with the following questions.

A separate letter of recommendation is not required. This field is available to those who wish to submit a letter of recommendation in addition to completing this form.
